Sten HoffmanIntroduction to Debate Bloc 1
Sten Hoffman is currently a senior at Interlake High School, where he is an avid participant in the school’s Model UN club. Sten has thus far attended three conferences and is currently in the process of staffing two conferences, including EDUMUN. Outside of MUN, Sten plays trumpet in Interlake’s Jazz Band, Bikes, hikes, and loves to play with his dog. Sten is incredibly excited to teach Model UN debate skills at EDUMUN and hopes to inspire delegates to pursue greatness in MUN while learning more about the world and improving their speaking abilities.
Marnie MuñozIntroduction to Debate Bloc 1
As a junior at the International Community School, Marnie Muñoz has been committed to MUN since freshman year. Since then, Marnie has attended four conferences and staffed for three. She appreciates the intensity of research and collaboration that the MUN environment fosters, and hopes to meaningfully share her passion for MUN with this year’s delegates. Outside of MUN, Marnie enjoys competing in FBLA, volunteering as a language tutor for underclassmen, playing piano, and running.
Aditi EkboteIntroduction to Debate Bloc 2
Aditi Ekbote is a sophomore at Tesla STEM High School and has been a part of Model United Nations for two years. She has been a delegate in multiple conferences- including WASMUN and PACMUN 2016- and is very excited to be staffing for EDUMAN this year. Aditi loves the fact that MUN empowers students to discuss and work to solve pressing real-world issues. In her free time, Aditi enjoys reading, playing her cello, and going to her Martial Arts class. She is looking forward to making EDUMUN’s Intro to Debate Seminar a wonderful and enriching experience for all delegates.
Sneha DurairajIntroduction to Debate Bloc 2
Sneha is a senior at Redmond High School and joined Model UN in her junior year after forced pressure from her friends but ended up falling in love with it at her first conference, where she won Outstanding Delegate. Since then, she has won numerous other awards and staffed multiple conferences. Outside of MUN, Sneha plays competitive badminton, is part of DECA, and is the President of the Senate in Youth & Government, which she is extremely passionate about. Additionally, she is the Editor-in-Chief of the Redmond High School newspaper and is learning her fifth and sixth languages. Sneha wants to be a Senator later in life and loves politics. As a people person, she sincerely looks forward to meeting all of the delegates.
Anushka LadhaPosition Papers and Research Bloc 1
Anushka Ladha is a senior at Redmond High School and Vice President of Redmond Model UN. She joined Model UN her sophomore year and it quickly grew to be her favorite extracurricular activity due to the perfect combination of research and debate. Anushka has attended 6 conferences as a delegate, is Director-General at Redmond High School’s conference, REDMUN, and is also a staff member for PACMUN 2017. Outside of MUN, Anushka likes to participate in Speech and Debate, edit for her school newspaper, drink unholy amounts of bubble tea, and take long naps. She’s so excited for EDUMUN 2017, and hopes to make the Position Papers and Research Seminar one for the books!
Anna VasyuraPosition Papers and Research Bloc 1
Anna Vasyura is a senior at Nikola Tesla STEM High School. She joined Model UN in her junior year and though she initially joined to gain speaking skills and find out more about current political issues, MUN grew on her more than she expected and she’d like to show others why. Anna has attended 2 conferences as a delegate and though EDUMUN 2017 is her first conference as a staff member, she hopes to staff more in the future. Outside of MUN, Anna is involved in synthetic biology research, Schools Under 2C, creates art, and spends an exorbitant amount of money on trying new food places. She’s really looking forward to staffing Position Papers & Research 101 at EDUMUN 2017 and meeting new future delegates!
Beatrice Duchastel de MontrougePosition Papers and Research Bloc 2
Beatrice Duchastel de Montrouge is a junior at Inglemoor High School and is very excited to start her second year of Model United Nations by staffing at EDUMUN 2017! Outside of Model UN, Beatrice is an IB student who enjoys being the speech captain for her Speech and Debate Club, as well as playing flute in the school band and acting as drum major during Marching Band season. Outside of school, Beatrice is a Senior level Girl Scout who loves spending time with her family as well as watching too much Netflix and James Bond movies. She is thrilled to pass on her knowledge of researching and writing to the next wave of Model UN delegates and can’t wait for EDUMUN to begin!
Teya McGuirePosition Papers and Research Bloc 2
Teya McGuire is a current senior and IB diploma candidate at Inglemoor High School. She began MUN in sophomore year and this will be her 5th time attending an MUN conference. Outside of MUN, she is also a section leader in the IHS Wind Ensemble, a member of the IHS captain’s council, a member of the IHS Girl’s Varsity Tennis Team, President of the IHS chapter of Amnesty International, Treasurer of the IHS Chinese Club, and President of the Washington Youth Summit for Equality leadership team. She is excited to help delegates learn more about MUN and how it works!
Vivek DuttaRules of Procedure Bloc 1
Vivek is a rising junior at Interlake High School, where he is an active member of the Model UN club. Having joined MUN in his sophomore year after a newfound passion for diplomacy, he has gone on to attend multiple conferences including PACMUN, WASMUN, and KINGMUN. Outside of school, he enjoys coming up with creative solutions to help the community and is an active member of Bellevue’s Youth Link organization. In his leisure time, he likes to play soccer, hang out with friends, and waste endless hours surfing the internet. This is Vivek’s first conference staffing, and he is excited to work with the other secretariat and dais members to make EDUMUN 2017 a memorable experience.
Surbhi GulatiRules of Procedure Bloc 1
Surbhi is a sophomore at Interlake High School. She entered and quickly submerged herself in MUN as a freshman. This was a choice she never regretted because it opened her up to a wonderful community where she got to see diplomatic debate around pressing and relevant world issues, as well as grow her skills as a speaker. In what little time she is not working on her next MUN conference or complaining about homework, you can find Surbhi volunteering with organizations such as the Teen Volunteer Council and Animal Welfare Club, working on her FIRST Robotics team's robot, or hanging out with friends. EDUMUN 2017 will be the sixth conference she will contribute to, and it will be her second time staffing. She can't wait to see you all there!
Thrisha MohanRules of Procedure Bloc 2
Thrisha is currently a junior at International School Bellevue. She has ecause her hobbies include making MUN powerpoints during classes that she should probably be paying attention in. She is delighted to have the opportunity to teach new delegates Rules of Procedure and welcomes all to EDUMUN 2017.
Victoria WangRules of Procedure Bloc 2
Victoria Wang is currently a senior at Interlake High School and has been involved in Model United Nations for two years. Victoria is looking forward to helping MUN delegates learn about the Rules of Procedure and how to utilize them to their advantage. Outside of MUN, Victoria is often found sleeping, eating, or participating in DECA and Debate. She also loves biology, traveling, and food. Food donations are greatly appreciated throughout the seminar.
Ariana HajjResolution Writing
Ariana is currently an eleventh-grader studying her A-levels in the Cambridge International Program. Ever since her first conference, she has loved how MUN provides delegates with the opportunity to find innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. She is enthusiastic to be an instructor for Resolution Writing. Outside of MUN, you can find Ariana cheering on Arsenal, her favorite soccer team, volunteering as a team leader for the Ismaili Volunteer Corps and as a board member for NHS, coding, pouring over the pages of an enthralling novel, or playing tennis with friends.
Claire WhitesideResolution Writing
Claire is currently a junior at Tesla STEM High School. This is her first time staffing EDUMUN, and she is excited for the opportunity. Outside of MUN, she plays soccer and is active in Girl Scouts. She also enjoys reading and staying obsessively up to date with current events. She is looking forward to EDUMUN, and hopes everyone learns a lot!
Denis ChelanSpecialized Committees
Denis, a sophomore at Tesla STEM High school and was first introduced to MUN during his 8th grade year at ICS attending KINGMUN for the first time. Since then he has attended a multitude of conferences from KINGMUN 2016 all the way to WASMUN and even staffing KINGMUN 2017 and taking part in a crisis committee for all but one. In his free time Denis enjoys playing the piano which he has done for 7 years, programming various things from websites to games as well as hiking and swimming. For EDUMUN 2017 Denis is part of the Crisis and Specialized Seminar and he can’t wait to see you all.
Esther WangSpecialized Committees
Esther Wang is a sophomore at Tesla STEM. MUN has been an integral part of her life ever since her first conference at PACMUN 2016. Model United Nations continually amazes her by the dedication and professionalism that is displayed as well as the diplomacy and intense debate it offers with every conference. Outside of MUN, Esther enjoys soccer, playing the violin, graphic design and science. She is extremely excited to be a part of the Crisis and Specialized Seminar and is looking forward to making EDUMUN the best it can be!
Jackie LuStaffing and Secretariat
Jackie Lu is a senior at the International School of Bellevue and has been involved in Model United Nations since her freshman year. She currently serves as the Secretary-General of her club, and a USG of Delegate Affairs for PACMUN 2017. Other than planning MUN meetings, you can find Jackie completing in robotics competitions and browsing Polandball comics. She looks forward to seeing you at the Staff & Secretariat Seminar at EDUMUN this fall!
Shawdi MehrvarzanStaffing and Secretariat
Shawdi is a senior in the Cambridge Program at Juanita High School, and has been a part of the MUN community for four years. Throughout her work as a delegate, staff, and secretariat member, Shawdi has always enjoyed engaging in the ideals of diplomacy and debate while also meeting new people. As a second-time EDUMUN staffer, she is ecstatic to teach delegates about the numerous opportunities that MUN in the Pacific Northwest has to offer. When she’s not perpetually traveling from library to library during her MUN-immersed weekends, you can find Shawdi drawing, playing tennis, furiously banging on a piano, or perusing a math textbook
Zoe SchenkMock Committee
Zoe Schenk is a junior at Inglemoor High School. She attended EDUMUN last year as a beginning delegate, and has since then been a delegate at PACMUN and VMUN, staffed KINGMUN, and is on the secretariat board for PACMUN 2017. Zoe loves Model UN, and if she isn't researching for an upcoming conference, she's studying hard for her full IB classes, hiking, or binge watching the Great British Bake Off. Zoe loves to debate politics and current issues, and hopes that through EDUMUN, the delegates she helps will feel more confident going into their next conference.
Juhi SinhaMock Committee
Juhi is super excited to be working with EDUMUN, and this is her second year on staff. She goes to Interlake High School and is a tenth grader in the IB program. She has been doing MUN for 2 years now, and is an avid officer for her school. In her spare time, Juhi enjoys playing for the Interlake golf team and the Premiere dance team.
